Thats right Spikes were selling their lowers for $65 at the Tampa Gun show this weekend.

even though its cheap right now to buy the complete AR I still had to buy a few at that price.

That's a sweet deal! I would pick up a couple at that price too! It looks like prices really are coming down right now.

Man, what a deal. They're still $90 on their website. Complete lowers for $250. Maybe they'll be chopping that down soon. I can always hope anyways...

I am guessing Spike's went apeshit crazy either making or ordering these lowers during the rush and now it is time to clear inventory out being the end of the year.

Would jump on a couple at that price.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. The supply/demand pendulums never swing together - they're always trying to react to one another. As with most pendulum-type models, there are periods of over-correction in each direction.

We had the run-up in demand when folks started preparing for the results of the 2008 elections. It accelerated as it became more and more obvious which way the election was going to go, and after Nov 4 it hit warp speed. Suppliers went balls-to-the-wall to meet that demand. Now, with the economy the way it is, and the messiah apparently preoccupied with more pressing issues, there is a drop in demand, resulting in excess supply.

Yes, call me Captain Obvious. But the next few months will probably be a perfect opportunity to shore up any holes in your firearm inventories.

They say they were blemishes on them I did not see any other then a couple of edges had some of the silver showing but had to look very hard to see it.

But they had 100's of them and I believe how slow the business is it was more of a inventory/drum up some revenue.

I"ve noticed some decent sales in my area on S&W MP15's at local gun stores. Hopefully all of the brands will start dropping. Unfortunately I jumped in the market at the peak of pricing.

You weren't alone. But find consolation in the fact that there really wasn't an alternative. The threat of Clinton II was very real, and had the economy not been such a mess, it could have become reality.

That, and the run-up in gun and ammo sales might have been a warning shot across the bow for even the most oppressive of the gun-ban crowd. It showed them that gun control, at least for the moment, was a losing proposition.

Buying at the peak, like many did, may have played a big part in preserving the Second Amendment, at least for the time being....
